Cool KAZ 59 tanker jackets. The stamps are often
just washed out.Thats why the size is often writen on the inside
with permanent markers. Surplus sellers do that often.Tell me when
    you need matching pants.

I think the sizes could also be written by the Bundesheer. These uniforms were repeatedly reissued to soldiers, which would mean needing to have readable sizes for the depot clerks. To me, the ones that mimic the BH's measurement system are more likely from BH and not shops. I would think surplus shops would more likely just write "48" or "M". Certainly I've seen ones resold to the US that have US chest measurements.

Of course the army did it too but often just  with ballpoint pens. Was my job for a few days during conscript time when my garrison sold of the old stocks Laughing .A very exciting job. Wink And surplus shop owners  wrote in BH sizes too.
Talked to a shop owner yesterday who said he needs a lot of time to re-write(in BH sizes) the washed off sizes. At least in Austria they did and do  that. Its easier to re write BH sizes than take a chart convert and write it in normal 50-52-54 sizes he said. Because the army sizes are not exactly the same than european sizes.

I know that I've had items where pieces came from different runs of cloth. This is not unusual when there is such a large variation from print run to print run.
