Comparison of two variants.  The first is deliberately printed, the second I believe is overdyed green type. You can see the black and brown screens are reversed between the two patterns.

Interesting set! There can't be very many of these uniforms in existence. It looks to be in the Soviet helicopter pilot cut. I wonder if they had it produced in Russia?

The label says clearly it was produced by Yumco from the city Vranje.
I would say its Yugoslavian made.

Thanks! I initially assumed that it was local production because ex-Yugoslavia has excellent clothing manufacturing capacity. Hmm. Maybe the got the pattern through the Russian MOD? Anyway, does anybody know of other camouflage material used for this design? It seems rather odd that they would do domestic production for (probably) a couple hundred uniforms. If they were making them for the Army/Airforce that would make sense.

The former Yugoslavian /Serbian Montenegrinian Police inlcuding special forces like the -Special Operations Unit- had a couple of helicopters including Mi-8,Mi-17 and even 2 Mi-24V. Soviet-helicopters, thats maybe the reason they made the uniforms in a sovietstyle cut. IIRC I saw somewhere pics of the normal green M89, M93 camo in this cut.

I believe the pattern was called Blue Amoeba - at least that's how I always heard it referred to. Posebne Jednice Policie (PJP) used it in Kosovo, among other places. The set also came with a cap - I've seen the caps in this same pattern or plain blue, either with ear flaps or without them, always made by Unitex.



Jacket, with desetar (Lance Corporal equivalent) stripes attached.


Trousers, one trouser leg pocket closes on a zipper, one on velcro only, and the legs don't have the "stirrups" for blousing.


Unitex cap with the ear flaps down. Unlike almost all other Warsaw Pact-style caps with ear flaps I've seen, these fasten up top with velcro strips instead of a button.


This might be out of place in this thread - if so, let me know and I'll remove it. Net vests are usually what was seen paired with the uniform in pictures and footage from 1998/1999. Based on conversations with people from the area, I "think" the net vests were meant to be replaced with different police vests but the Kosovo conflict caught them flat-footed before they had sufficient stock of the new pattern. They're all made with US Woodland pattern, marked with a stylized letter W - I'm not sure what maker this is.
