    Flectarn pilots??? helmet cover

Post by austromunga on Fri Mar 27, 2015 8:33 pm

    Hi all
Picked this up at a local militaria fair its a flectarn helmet cover but unusually it is constructed in two pieces sewn together and with a simple elasticated drawstring and reversible to olive green!!! (looks similar to the construction of the Bergan covers but in miniature) any ideas!!??

And a pic of it fitted to a Bundeswehr helm representation M1 type parade liner

These were likely made as either a stopgap measure or trails. I've got a number of these, but none so simply made. Mine have foliage holes.

The cloth appears to be from very early production for scarfs that was quickly dropped. There's a lot of the scarfs around but the covers aren't as easily found these days.
