Hi, I was wondering if anyone recognizes this helmet shape. It kinda looks like an M1, but the front "cut" is different and it has a padded leather suspension and a chinstrap attached to four points on the helmet. Any help would be appreciated!

Swiss M71 and the later model post 1985, with the rear hanging ring...should be dated on the inside by the bales for the chinstrap ... BT** this will be the date made... Also if you lift the head pads the leather may also be maker marked and dated!! Nice it still has its 25mm plastic issue disk ...should have the soldiers details on it!!!

Very cool, thank you. It's dated 1974, haven't found soldier's details yet!

The white plastic ID tag sometimes only has the Soldiers number regiment and date enlisted, sometimes there is a paper label with a name... other times the owner writes on the leather pads as my BT78 1978 made one is... see pic... (this can of course sadly fade!!) or sometimes there are no name markings at all!! yours is earlier than I thought due to having the hanging ring retrofitted after 1985 (often done when handed back after service... refurbished and re-issued!!)
