Too heavy for regular garrison use; they are built for rough use.

Dont think they are for armored crews/troops either.  Maybe for  mountain troops, but really have no idea.

Perhaps one of our illustrious Norwegian members can enlighten..

These are the regular combat trousers of the Norwegian armed forces, all branches, since 1975. Still very much in use, however the army prefers gore-tex these days, in camo. Only test runs have existed of these in camo, but for whatever reason green has been the issue colour since day 1.

    Very appreciated information.

Always have liked the look of olive trousers worn with camouflage blouse, or jacket.
They look great with early or late pattern M75 field jackets..

Octoberrust in post # 7 said they are used by cadets only. I know he does have good knowledge concerning Norwegian uniforms, but I thought this time he may have been incorrect.

Do you know the correct designation for the olive trousers ? Are they also called M75 ?

    Thanx..

The green M75 trousers are never used with a camouflage blouse. That's against regulations. They are only used with the M75 jacket. Or in winter can be combined with a white jacket. They're worn with braces, and normally some type of zip-up shirt. They're issued to all branches since 1975, although navy don't use green much. FYI I am a Norwegian veteran with service since 1980, so this uniform was entering service at the same time I was. I'm updated on all but the very latest uniforms and gear. And I sell it all also.

Glad to help. BTW you camo trousers are not M98. I've never seen a tab with a sword on it, that's where size usually is. Or a shield indicating it's issue. I would guess you have a civilian pair. Neither M04 nor M75, but possible in between. In 1983 I had my M75 trousers in camo made at the factory that made the green ones. Special order just for me. It has no tab. Not possible these days as all uniforms are made out of country.

Yes, camo trousers next to olive trousers are not M98, only the pattern is.
I believe they are a private purchase and a very well done copy of the M75 olive field trousers .
The sword on the label is something I have not seen in other Norwegian military garments.
Also there is no contract date on the label, so most likely not military issue.

On the old M75s there is only a small white and red label with no room for anything besides size and a code. That can be contract date I guess, never thought much about it. New issue stuff has a NATO cat number as well as a SAP number. Old have neither. As for name of pattern, it started with the M75, however the pattern changed once, swapping out the brown with khaki, then again it changed with the M98. A new pattern is coming soon, which will replace all uniforms in use.

I have the hoods from 1999, medium sizes, but I've seen larger.
