BELBAT VI mannequin Empty Belgian Mannequin

Nice mannequin!   Here is a rather poor quality photograph that I took of one of the Belgian gate guards at Beli Manastir, Croatia in the fall of 1993; I just wish I had had digital back then!

Great photos Ed - is the helmet air force, or was it painted UN blue?

Raoul was in the Army, so I am not sure where he got the helmet from.

It looks like UN blue painted over an army M51 shell with early roughly textured surface.

That must have been a short course. "Be aware there are mines everywhere and if you trigger one you'll regret it" Smile

Interesting. I always thought the blue Belgian helmets were Air Force.

They are, but there are two shades of blue - the air force helmets, which are very common, are sort of a robin's egg blue. The UN overpainted helmets are the darker traditional UN blue.

And then to confuse things further, the earlier vintage air force helmets and liners (1950s-60s) are closer to slate grey.
