Why did Austria decide to move from camouflaged uniforms to solid colours? Was there any type of reason behind this? Don't get me wrong, those solid khakis look awesome, but I just wondered why they abandoned camouflage fatigues for their armed forces.

Well, in 1975 a new uniform was introduced. I don't know why they moved back to solid colors but I can tell you what I've heard:

    • camouflage looks too military ( Rolling Eyes )

    • that the K4 uniform was very expensive to produce

Nowadays Austrian soldiers are well known for their plain uniforms.(deployed soldiers)
There are no plans to replace the tan/OD uniform for regular soldiers AFAIK. Austrian troops also had used US desert pattern but stopped wearing it because they were mistaken for Americans.

    Okay, thanks for the info.

So more likely than not, those digital patterns you shared some weeks ago aren't going to be phased in anytime soon?

I think they will only be used in the Jagdkommando (SF unit).
Useful information is rare. Lots of rumors and BS around. Sometimes it's hard to tell wrong from right. We will see...

Where would a soldier wear that shirt? Is it meant for working in a FOB? Casual wear when attending a village shura?
