Russian DPM Uniform Empty Russian DPM Uniform

Post by escammo Wed Jul 22, 2009 4:53 pm

Here is a Russian DPM uniform that I bought a few years ago. It is one of the nicest uniforms I have seen with very high quality material and construction. It is designed like the MVD uniforms with cargo pockets on the front thighs and multiple other pockets for knives, flashlights, batons, etc. The uniform doesn't have any labels or markings other than simple cloth size tags.

    Russian DPM Uniform Jacket

The insignia on the uniform is subdued and is professionally machine sewn to the uniform. On the left sleeve there is a Russian para patch, the right sleeve patch has a Russian eagle with "Russia" written in English. This "Russia" patch is supposed to be used by units serving abroad.

Here is a photo of a Russian soldier in Chechnya(?)wearing a uniform that looks a lot like this one.

    Russian DPM Uniform Mdf26263

I imagine that this uniform was issued to Ministry of Internal Affairs troops.

Does anyone have any information on the use of the uniform? I have posted close-ups of the chest insignia on the uniform to help in identifcation. Any help provided in identification would be appreciated.

I was wondering what the BC initials stood for but it looks like it is for POCCИЯ BOOPYЖEHHblE CИПbl or RUSSIAN FEDERATION MILITARY.

    Russian DPM Uniform 3d8e_2

At this point I am wondering if this is an actual issue uniform or if it has been "tarted-up" with armed services insignia ... I do not think that this is an issue camouflage pattern or uniform style for the army. The patches are usually sewn to the pockets of Russian camo uniforms so the patch placement on the sleeves of this uniform look odd too.

Yes - some of the websites that sell this pattern call it "smog".

I have seen these worn in pictures from Georgia , I do not know if they are issue , thats a tricky subject , Russian combat units use a mix of issue and commercial uniforms and gear so it is very possible , Cant say much about your uni ,unless you got it from a Russian soldier , it could go either way , but that works both ways , someone would have a hard time proving it is not a field used piece .

It seems to me that this BC insignia would most likely be found on an issue VSR or Flora camo pattern uniform - not this DPM.

However, here is what looks like a MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS soldier with a
POCCИЯ BOOPYЖEHHblE CИПbl patch on his tigerstripe pattern uniform. So - it can happen....

The fact that the sleeve patches are not sewn on the pockets still bothers me a bit...

I zoomed in on the patch in this photo and this soldier is actually wearing Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) insignia – not an Armed Forces of Russia patch.

    Russian DPM Uniform MVD

I have spent a good deal of time trying to find Russian armed forces insignia on non-issue camo and have not been successful. Russians seem to have little standardization on the types of camo that they wear – however, I think that this applies mainly to Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) troops. It looks like the Russian Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) consistently wear issued camo uniforms (Flora, VSR, Woodland).

This leads me to question the authenticity of the patches on my DPM uniform pictured above….

If anyone can provide a photo of Russian Armed Forces insignia on a non-issue uniform (especially on a DPM pattern uniform), I will send you this Ukrainian camo hat with subdued insignia on it – free of charge. The hat is size 57 and has a 2002 manufacture date. I need help trying to figure out how likely that my Russian DPM uniform with armed forces insignia is genuine. If not, you will probably see it for sale on eBay soon. Smile

Heh... I gave up trying to pin down Russian stuff years ago. It seems that there is always a case to be made that something is "official" because a picture turns up with either Armed Forces or MVD forces wearing it.

My sense is that MVD is far more chaotic than the Armed Forces. But even that generalization probably is too case specific to mean anything!

I may be off of topic a bit, but is "Spetsnaz" a Russian term for Special Forces, correct?

Is it just me but it appeared that Russia military is very disorganized?

Back to this topic, cool jacket by the way!

Spetsnaz is but one type of "Special unit" in the vast Russian nomenclature , there are a huge amout of special operation type units bearing various titles , many get lumped into the title of Spetsnaz, I highly recommend reading Desmonds book on Russian uniforms , he discusses this aspect of the Russian Military and Police in decent detail , without getting too complicated , its a good book to have if you want to collect Russian camo stuff , not complete , but as this thread has shown , a complete guide is all but impossible .

    Hello Gilles.

    Very nice DPM uniforms!

The stamps show that these uniforms were manufactured by Industar TPK LLC in Moscow Russia. Industar makes Uniforms and equipment for law enforcement agencies.

Here is a stamp from a Woodland camo uniform made by Azov GARMENT FACTORY N 13 in Azov Russia.

I think that these stampings show that Russian MVD units are not just wearing commercial off-the-rack uniforms. Some MVD units are actually contracting the production of specialized uniforms for their troops.

Hi, This uniform is mostly weared by Internal troops.
This camo is used by "Vityaz" (Витязь)unit, for example.
Some of SOBR units wear it too. It is issue camo.
