Spanish Para Jacket Empty Spanish Para Jacket

    Post by Camonut314 Wed Jul 30, 2014 7:36 pm

One can go insane collecting all of the different varieties of Spanish uniforms. Luckily, if you know what you are looking for, you can pick them up for cheap because no one seems to know what they are! Unfortunately, I do not know what I am looking for a lot of the time, but I did manage to find this gem in a warehouse and knew enough that it was worth $10.

What looks like a standard M-82 NATO jacket is quickly dissembled by the full velcro closure and fastenings for the pockets. Also note the pocket shape which is distinctly more rectangular than the standard jacket. The color is also closer to that of the Legion "Sarga", and closer to the current dress uniforms worn by BRIPAC (although it was so dark in the warehouse, I honestly couldn't tell at the time).

From what I have managed to dig up, this is perhaps known as the M77 paratrooper's jacket. This assumption is supported by the patches which clearly display post-Franco crown adorned eagles. Again, though, this is only a guess based on other collector's terminology, and I do not know the official usage of this jacket. I do know that a similar uniform was worn in the Sahara, and sometimes modified form a full button, to a full velcro closure.

Additional info on this jacket is most appreciated.

Greetings, it is indeed a paratrooper jacket known as a work shirt, it is possible that it has some kind of reference but in the unit it was known by that name, it replaces the first model published in the order of 22 March 1956, known as Work jacket, they differed in the epaulets, in the first they were black and can be removed and the next was sewn and was green, the first was used until 1969, the one you have was used from 1970 to the early 80s. the paratrooper wings and the name and specialty strip that go over both pockets are missing.
