    NATO Jacket Empty NATO Jacket

Post by swag Tue Jul 28, 2009 11:57 am

I don't know the how, why, where, or when I came into possession of this jacket but I'd like to know what it is exactly. The tag has a NATO stock number on it so I've narrowed it down to it being a NATO jacket.
This jacket will be up for sale once I figure out what it is and what a fair price is. But, as always, if someone wants to offer me ridiculous gobs of money for it I wont hesitate to take said gobs of money.
    Anyway, here are some pix...

Yes, that is the much maligned Garrison Jacket. It's hot, uncomfortable, and rather goofy looking when you consider that, at the time, this was the only general purpose camouflage item in the Canadian military (I think the Airforce wore this as well). I don't know the exact dates of use, but mid 1990s to late 1990s is a ballpark. I'm pretty sure it was dropped ahead of CADPAT and not at the same time.

Doesn't surprise me that's not rare, I'm not lucky enough to find rare stuff at a steal of a price. Maybe I'll get lucky and sell it for a ridiculous price to someone at a yard sale or something...lol

And thanks to everyone for ID'ing it, at least I now know what it is.

So let's get this straight - this was a camouflage jacket issued just for walking around barracks in, by an armed force who at the time had NO field camouflage garment (save the helmet cover perhaps)?

Like many things, this was pretty hard to get a hold of while it was issued. But then they dumped them onto the commercial resale markets. The store I frequent in Canada always has a pretty good number out for sale, however Sportsmans Guide at one point was selling them super cheap (not sure if they still have them).
