I am looking for Free Iraqi Forces uniforms to add to my collection. The FIF were assigned to various US units during the invasion of Iraq. The FIF was US trained , US led, US EQUIPPED, and they helped the US soldiers with civil-military affairs. I have several FIF patches, but am looking for real patched uniforms. The attached picture shows you what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance!!!!

If they were US-equipped, it's very possible those are just old surplus 6-colour BDUs that were in storage somewhere that were given to them to wear. If that's the case, if you have some 6-colour desert BDUs you could attach your patches to them if you were able to find how/where patches go, etc.

Actually, from what I see on pictures, It doesn't have regular US BDU cut. It appeared doesn't have reinforced elbows. But however, material probably was US made.

About sewing patches on uniforms, it won't be original if it is a put together piece.

So even if its original real deal, with original real deal patches, it doesn't constitute as being legitimate if you piece these parts together (even if you couldn't find a set with them pre-attached)?

    I'm certainly confused...lol!

It really does make a difference. Just like I sold a set of US issue desert camos with original bosnia insignia, this entire uniform came from a member of the tiny bosnian contingent and it carries more value that it's not pieced together. Certainly for me.

I've got an early Iraqi Army choco chip uniform that my friend got his first tour in iraq in 04 and it's a US civilian produced uniform. so that could be where FIF sourced theirs from

FYI< Don't know if any of you know about this, I'm admin on a forum for Iraq collectors, it's got some interesting info on the site, not a terribly active forum as not many collectors of this field at present.

I think in years to come, current Iraqi militaria collecting will really catch on a be as good a market as the old Soviet-era stuff. It may take awhile, but I think it'll come around. This is a big time for Iraq and its military.
