Re: Sumpftarn jacket
That's a fair price. Seems the cost of these has come down quite a bit lately on eBay. There's a guy with TWO near mint condition ones with a Buy It Now price of about EUR 1100. For the condition it's a pretty good price compared to what these things have been going for over the last few years.

Re: Sumpftarn jacket
Be careful , many MANY of these jackets are of post war Czech manufacture , and looking at the pattern of this one , it looks Identical to the Czech pattern , a dead giveaway is the fabric , the Czech fabric is thinner then the wartime stuff .

Re: Sumpftarn jacket
Steve,
I wasn't aware of the Czechs keeping the same cut as the German garments, although the did produce cloth in identical colors using wartime machinery left in their country. I also know that early on they used captured surplus stocks of the pull over tops.

Re: Sumpftarn jacket
I have seen almost exact copies of the German winter jacket made post war by the Czechs , Im not saying this is one of them , I am just saying be careful , the Czech version has different waist ties and buttons , and some other minor differences , easy things to change and call wartime , also the Czechs used a different stamp system and this will give them away as well , although I have seen plenty of jackets in pictures with no stamps at all , Look I am no expert and something like this I would take to the Whermacht awards forum , those crazy guys would know for sure !!

Good luck with that , most of the postwar Czech stuff was converted from what I have heard in the 70's and 80's and sold as German WWII , so its even rarer then the German real items .
