I'm not an expert on Brit stuff by any means, but I'd say repop.. The tag for the jacket reminds me a lot of the material and printing one of my repop US jump suit tags has.

NOt actually the denison smock, these were actually often called sas windproof camouflage oversuits. 30 years ago the pants were very common, jackets were always tough. The pants in the pic look legit, but repros are getting so good now, probably best to get an expert on it.

A lot of these were cut up in french indochina to make sausage suits and such for the french paras. ca 1950s

These can go for BIG bucks.

French wore something similar in the early days of Indochina.

Actually steve, the french got loads of surplus camos from the brits and US especially in the late 40s and very early 50s in indochina. The local tailors made all kinds of things like bigeard caps, etc. and early US advisors had suits made from these at local tailors. An original unmolested set would be quite valuable.

Yup! I recently stumbled upon a French website with tons of early Indochina war photos. Pretty good ones too. Some of the brush pattern stuff looked like surplus Brit, others look custom made out of surplus cloth. I don't know much about the stuff, but either way I'd say the stuff is likely valuable. I sold a near unissued set of wartime production Windproof trousers for over $200 IIRC. Of course that was before the economy blew up, so I'm sure nobody would pay that now Smile

And a blast from the past, when I first started collecting ww2 brit airborne ca 1976, I bought original ww2 dated denison smockes for 30-$40 each, the windproof trousers for $10 ea and the ok oversmock the paras wore (they wore this over the denison smock to stuff gear in during a jump for $8!!!!! Ahhhhh the days before repros. I thought I was doing great to sell them at double what I paid for em!! If I had them all now!

I think you're right Steve, I suspect the brits made groundsheets out of this material, and much easier for an indochina tailor to model up custom garments from them! It's always cool to see the French troops wearing surplus hbt fatiques with the USMC logo still in place in the middle of indo ca. 1950!

That's actually not too far off from what they were going for a few years ago. $350-$400 USD for a set is about right. I sold a set of mint condition trousers for something like $200.

Not really too bad when you consider the price of some other ww2 camos. Probably will appreciate in value the further away from ww2 we get. Plus the indochina connection doesnt hurt either.
