Ah, sorry to burst your bubble but this isn't SAS.

It belongs to 1st Bn PARA COMMANDO used in the '60s and '70s. These were the guys in the Congo in '64.

That said, it's a nice and rare piece and has all the relevent insignia.

I'm not sure but I think the dagger patch means that the wearer has been transfered from 2 COMMANDO..
All you need now is the beret (marroon) and trousers (side pocket)!

    Very nice jacket!

The jacket is from a member of 1st Battalion, as Brigade Piron correctly points out. This is denoted by the maroon "Pegasus" arm and metal epaulette badges. 2nd and 3rd Battalions have their own unique metal badges for the shoulders, only 1st Battalion has the maroon arm badges.

The core structure of the Para Commando Brigade was as follows:

    1 Para Battalion
    2 Commando Battalion
    3 Para Battalion
    Various support units

As of 2003's reorganization the Brigade is gone and instead the three Battalions exist on their own. Support units were either disbanded or added into the Battalions.

The Commando badge on the right arm is a qualification badge, not a unit badge. This is called the Commando A award. Commando B is rarely seen on a uniform (it's the lesser of the two). Any member can have this certificate, not just those assigned to 2nd Battalion. The jump wings are Parachute A. As with Commando A, it is the superior grade. Parachute B is not generally seen on uniforms.

In 1952 the three battalions merged from 1 Para, 2 Commando and 3 Para into the Para-Commando Regiment.
It was then decided to also merge training, i.e. all members needed to first qualify for Commando "a" course which gave them the right to wear both the dagger badge and a green or maroon beret, depending on the battalion they were assigned to. After that the soldier moved to parachute training to obtain the Para "a" wings. Failure meant that the individual lost the beret but kept the dagger badge. It also meant that he would be excluded from the Regiment. So, no "legs" would be serving in any of the battalions.

A really cool item of kit to see and a first for me.   Great to see all the knowledge being shared about it.
