    2e REP

Post by Easy Gee on Sun Jul 29, 2012 7:05 am

Here's another French beret, this one is 2e REP.

    Info courtesy of Wikipedia.

The 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (French: 2ème Régiment Étranger de Parachutistes, 2e REP) is an airborne regiment of the French Foreign Legion, stationed at Camp Raffalli near the town of Calvi on the island of Corsica, just south of mainland France. It is part of the 11th Parachute Brigade[1] and the spearhead of the French Rapid reaction force.

    Hi

Gary the 2REP beret you posted i would bet it's private purchase. Frenchies like portuguese have the habit of buy a substitute beret to wear daily and keep the hard achieved one rested. I wonder if this happens elsewhere.

    Best regards

What is the significance of the embroidery on the two red berets?

And yes it's very much common practice in teh UK to haev two (or more) berets.

Hi Albano, I don't know, but what you said makes a lot of sense, the green is slightly different than my 3 e REI Beret which I am 100% sure is genuine, so maybe it is a substitute beret. Either way it was cheap compared to British prices ( I bought this one from Switzerland.)

I do know from personal experience that RMC buy a secondary Beret for everyday wear, and keep their original commando course awarded one for best.

Thanks for looking and your input on this Smile

The embroidery signifies the wearer as being a member of the 1st Parachute Hussar Regiment (French: 1er Régiment de Hussards Parachutistes, 1er RHP) - an airborne cavalry unit.

    Fusiliers Commandos de l'Air

Post by Easy Gee on Sat Dec 01, 2012 8:57 am

    Courtesy of Wikipedia.
The Fusiliers Commandos de l'Air (French for "Fusilier commandos of the Air (force)") of France's Armée de l'Air (French Air Force) are equivalent to the United Kingdom's RAF Regiment, Germany's Objektschutzregiment der Luftwaffe or the United States Air Force's United States Air Force Security Forces. They are airmen armed and trained as infantry, who provide ground defense of air bases and secure forward base areas. They also participate in forward air control, combat search and rescue missions and as air assault infantry.
