L’berge jacket

Everybody know the L’berge jacket











On book camouflage uniforms of Asian and Middle East armies, the jacket is classed at Qatar
And it have this picture at Kowet



Difficult to see on my picture but if you have the book and a jacket, you can compare
For me this Kuwait soldier wearing a L’berge jacket (left)
The drawing of the DPM L’berge jacket is very different than a right English DPM

Hello,
I posted a barb wire pattern Iraqi uniform I brought back in 91. It was in the Iraq section awhile back. It has the same maker tags.

It is write TROUILLET and made in Korea (TROUILLET is a French name)
I don't know the date when picture is take
It is certainly 1991 but if it is after the war, this soldier can wearing an Iraqi jacket
I will try to have the date of the picture

Neat! I didn't know LeBerge made simple shirts. Makes sense.

BTW, I have a near identical LeBerge F1 type set made in India. I've been assuming that this was a follow up contract piece for Iraq, but of course it could be something completely different. Anybody know?

Eric's article saying that these items were actually Kuwaiti and then stolen by Iraqi is interesting. It would explain why they do not have Iraqi MOD tags on them. My only question about this is the French cut of the uniform. I thought Kuwait only used British and US uniform cuts.

I've got an Indian version as well as two LeBerge sets.

Compare with the L'berge jacket

Here is a comparison picture between an Indian made jacket (left) and a LeBerge jacket (right). Both uniforms are nearly identical in terms of construction, camouflage pattern, and colors.

From what a collector from middle east told me, the "L'berge" uniforms were made for kuwait, but when the iraqis invaded the country and took the uniforms as surplus, the kuwaitis changed all their DPM uniforms and ditched them to the market...
So the uniforms were originally intended for kuwait use, but ended up being worn by iraq, very briefly and not officially... at least that's what i was told.
I know Eric did some research to it and came with same/similar story...

The L'Berge were never issued to Qatar, even thou their DPM's do look a lot like...

For my own classification i keep the L'Berge stuff in my kuwait section.
