Semi-unidentified boots

Hello people,
I´ve this pair of boots what are stamped with an PH inside a rectangle next to 11-84, ¿are those numbers related to date of manufacturing?.At the sole is a ro search stamp.I´m almost sure they are U.S surplus but i didn´t see any pictures with soldiers wearing them,it seems they are something from the eighties just before the speed lace leather ones.I´would like to know if they are real G.I.,and if their use was common between diferent branches of the U.S. military.¿Any one know something?.

They look like US Navy issue boots, ( but I've been wrong before !!) the sole is the same as a Navy pair of boots I used to own anyway

They are real GI issue, the 11-84 stands for November 1984, date of contract/manufacture

They are USMC boots from what I have heard,supposedly mine are from the VN era.

Mine a made by Genesco, and the only markings on them are on the sole, there are none on the inside.

There is a seam in the back, which I have heard is indicative of VN era boots



The guys in FMJ wore identical boots to this BTW

The BDU uniform items were NOT branch specific. The only guys I know of that had special boots were Airborne guys. These are typical US Military boots. For the US Army, Air Force, US Navy, US Marine Corps when they wore BDU's.

The waffle sole boots date back to the late 50's/early 60's. They were not branch specific. I've got a pair that are from a USAF Nam grouping and another that are early USMC Nam era. They loose the rear seam around 78 or so. The boots my buddy gave me from the early 80's were different soled, but the sole depended on manufacturer by that time. Pre-speed lace.

Here´s a picture of the VN era model, there´s also a diference at the eyelets , the model i´ve got doesn´t have a continuous line of them.

As mentioned, those were issue boots. Used up until late 80's or early 90's when a upgraded boot, with padded collar, partial speed laces and redesigned sole was utilized. I remember this style quite well. I wore out my two issue pair in basic training. But, they sure were pretty with the shine on them, lol. Only problem I had with them was the thin soles, other than that, they were decent boots.

Could they fit in a Desert Storm setup?.

I have only seen the newer-style black boots and the green jungle boots worn in Desert Storm, with the exception of the SF and top brass-types with the early tan boots.
