USMC Force Recon or Recon Modified ERDL set Empty USMC Force Recon or Recon Modified ERDL set

Post by nkomo Fri Feb 20, 2009 1:49 am

Last year, I bought this heavily used modified USMC ERDL set from a good friend of mine. He was gracious enough to sell it to me for my collection. Anyway, this is a modified ERDL set with USMC markings. The bottom pockets have been removed from the jacket and sewn onto the sleeves. This set has been heavily used. It is very sun bleached, has blood stains, sleeves shortened, and the crotch/seat is held together with duct tape!

    Nkomo, another great find.
Looking at the pic of the shirt, the camo reminds me the Delta Pattern mentioned by Paul Miraldi in his books.
It's difficult to say it looking at the pic because it's similar to Brown Dominant. You can easily notice it inside. It should be different from the other ERDL shirts.

That is because there is no evidence to support the claim. As far as we know, there never was a unique "Delta" ERDL pattern - only the green and the later brown dominant versions. The "Delta" pattern seems to be an urban myth perpetuated by a few collectors who noted some anomalies in quality control or mistakenly thought the later 2nd generation ERDL (the RDF pattern) was a Vietnam era pattern. I have just never seen any hard evidence supporting the claim that there was a 3rd ERDL variation produced during the Vietnam War.

    Cheers,

    Eric

Bond007a1, I TRIED to talk to Arch into selling it to me but he held it as if it is his life jacket in middle of sea.

Delta patterns? Never heard of it. What would it look like? RDF in ERDL pattern? Is it called "Delta" because Delta Force operators worn it? I apologize in advance for my ignorance.

    edit:
    give me an english lesson:
when it or if it doesn't exist?
    what is correct?
    thanks

Nice set Arch , its a looker.

There was a 3rd ERDL pattern that was US made that became known as Delta pattern.
The browns are rich and the black is thick.
It is different than the RDF in its colors completely.
