I love the Puma pattern, there was a hat at my local surplus store, but it smelled NASTY, and he was asking too much for it. I seriously need to pick up a jacket one of these days, you can find them on Ebay for pretty cheap.

    I like it too - it's a neat pattern.

As well as the US and the winter US, there were two types of standard issue uniforms made in it. The earlier issue cut had exposed buttons on the pockets and a brown lining. The later issue had concealed buttons on the pockets and no brown liner. All the winter coats that I've seen have been the same, and there has been a glut of them on the market since about 2 years ago. I got mine for about $10...

Rogotywka's (4 corner caps) were made as you say, gloves and rank slides. Other items I have seen were two types of duffle bags/sacks, and a backpack. I also have a commercially made hat.

    Here are some pics below....

    Early cut, rogotywka and gloves:

    Later cut with rank slides:

    Winter coat:

    Gloves:

    Some rankslides:

    Backpack:

    Sacks:

    Polish paratrooper uniforms "US" 905969656

    Commercial hat:
    Polish paratrooper uniforms "US" Polishcommercialhats

There are two Polish names for this pattern. Most common is Puma. Other name is Zaba (with a dot above the z) which means frog.

I think a gas mask pouch might have been made as well...

    Neat pattern.

That's a pretty crap rule. I don't see any forums with that restriction anymore. A post is what the an author writes and he/she should be entitled to edit or delete it whenever they want.

I think that rule should be changed...

    Hi Martin,

Great stuff! As usual. I have some questions/comments for you when I have more time, but for now I have time just for this...

As for the editing, when someone posts to a Forum it becomes part of the Forum. I personally don't think it is right that people can "take their ball and go home" as it hurts the Forum as a whole. So no, I don't think it was his "right" to remove his stuff. I think it was his "right" to not have posted the stuff in the first place, obviously, but once it was here it becomes a part of something larger than himself.

For the record, I run a Forum with a couple million posts to it over a period of 10 years. We also have a revision time limit of a couple of hours. Like here, we've had problems with people revising and deleting things to the detriment of the Forum as a whole. We even had one guy revising things he wrote from several years prior!

The other source of abuse is when someone has a public meltdown and they later try to hide the fact by trying to change the historical record "Soviet style". Since meltdowns usually cause a great deal of trouble for Forum admins and the community at the time, I don't think it is fair that the person who caused the problem gets to scrub the record. We had one such problem here already and I've had the same problems on my own Forum (prior to the software offering the revision restriction feature).

Having said that, it does cause long "reference" threads like yours problems because things can't be added over time. I agree this is a problem. Unfortunately the feature is all or nothing. I would support post editing restrictions to be off by default since most people here have shown themselves mature enough to handle themselves well. And those others have their accounts locked down anyway and therefore can't revise their posts even if the restrictions are lifted. On my Forum, on the other hand, we have hundreds of crazies show up on a regular basis so the restrictions have more reason to be in place.

The real solution to the problem is to have a separate reference database, which offers a bunch of other desirable features. One of these days we'll have that here, but for now we're stuck with a bit of an imperfect medium.

    HI Danilo,
Sent the pics of this uniform to my friend who's a major in the Polish army starting during warsaw pact era as a airborne and now to present day. He's been a great source of uniforms equipment and info. He passed the photos along to others and he says he's not aware of this pattern as being military.

But as you say it could be an experimental design that a line officer wouldn't have encountered. The labels are certainly intriguing.

    Hi Danilo,
As my friend in the Polish military advised that these two sets that you purchased were identified as commercial camouflage that was made up for the civilain market. Possibly the airsoft market. He stated that these patterns were never issued for the Polish military. Hence the US wording on the tags. I do like both patterns and wished that they were legitmate issue camouflage. Sgt P.

BTW, that para version Puma is one sweet looking uniform! I'm guessing that's a rare bit of kit to get a hold of.

I have a picture of very early Pantera and it had camouflage collar rank, similar to traditional dress uniform rank. Very slick. I wish they had stuck with it.

    Martin,

I'm very curious about #10, the Police trial pattern. What can you tell me about it? I have a set and it clearly had collar rank on it at one point. Do you have any more pictures or information about it?

    Thanks!

very good thread lots of info-thanks very much for share! some of these uniforms I've never saw before, does anyone have info about Leopard (03) pattern? In begining of 90's there was similar pattern in Scouts shop,so I'm courious is it contract uniform (stamps/marks inside which every contract uniform has )or it's commercial .
In the end of 80's soldiers of airborne units and some SF start to use self-made uniforms from parashoot (not sure is this word correct-sorry my English is very poor) material,it looks like duck hunter camo,I will post some pics later.

Welcome! Thanks for the additional information.

I have a picture of an experimental Pantera jacket with experimental rank on the collar, similar to the rank worn on the brown service uniform. I am very sorry I saw this only after bidding was over.
