Looking to complete my Japanese camo assemblage and I need a new or used jacket in the Jieitai/flecktarn pattern. Eiter cloth or ripstop, would of course prefer original patches and insignia. I can buy the entire set if available that way. L-XL size preferred but not critical.

I can of course trade for European or N. American uniforms.

    Thanks for looking!

    Hello Kind Sir!

Koalorka, I've just bought and recieved a fully badged, brand new Jieitai set in size 2D (large, reg) from a Japanese seller on eBay + a boonie hat. The set was 125 USD, the boonie 45 and both arrived 3 (!) days after purchase.

The guys seller name is 336th-rockets

He had several sets for sale only days ago, so try and contact him directly, he writes back quickly in flawless English.

Be VERY careful about this stuff. There are far more fakes (commercial copies) out there on the market than there are real sets, from my experience.

I could not agree more, Steve, it seems there really is a shedload of fakes around!
I've bought a cheap, too brightly coloured and poorly sown uniform before, but luckily hit paydirt on this one - the boonie however... Let's just say it would have went rather well with the aforementioned fake-arse set.

So yes, I think I'll take back my eBay endorsements and simply say; be wary of fakes, cheap or well priced!

I'm aware of the Japanese eBay vendor, thank you for the heads up. Can you confirm that his stuff is real? How does one tell them apart?

I know so very little about Japanese uniforms..

As all Jiaitai uniforms I've come across have been sparsely badget (and I don't read Japanese) my experience is that it's down to the usual factors:

Feel and quality of the fabric - high cotton content and little or no bleeding of colours in the print.

A deeper olive hue in the green of the pattern, the fakes I've had were a brighter, more 'unnatural' green colour.

Uniform size stamps as well as sown-in tags.

Details in tailoring like pleated back, reinforced elbows and knees , extra material for repairs and extra buttons included (mine are the before-2007 type before velcro apparantly became the norm) and a slender, less BDU style or box-shaped, fit.

Now should abovementioned eBay vendor turn out to be a seller of wellmade fakes, my hat is still off for the quality of the uniform I've got - and he still shipped faster across the globe than any I've ever dealt with before Laughing

But I have a question as well; are there two Jiaitai-patterns? It seems like there is a darker, woodland-type pattern and a more yellow, Multicam-type pattern?
In the days after the awful tsunami in north-eastern Japan, TV reports showing the troops deployed to rescue and help, looked very differently clad than parade type images or pictures from Japanese UN missions.WTB: JGSDF (Jieitai) Flecktarn camo jacket Tumblr_li7uhgHTGs1qakqyfo1_500

Yes, apparently there is a darker, "Autumn" version of their camo. The regular Jeitai was also made in rip-stop.
