Yup, those are standard issue BW mountain boots. I'd guess 1970/80s issue.

These boots would have been worn with short moleskin trousers, specially designed for Gebirgsjäger. Or in winter they might have used special Filzlaus (wool) trousers, depending on the date of the boots. Heavy wool socks were worn up to the knees. If you need some socks I have spares. Not much call for BW mountain socks Very Happy

Steve, are you sure that these shoes 1970-80? On my first look I would just say that they have too modern design. Look at the perforations on the shoe tongue. There is 265 104 05 99. This code reads as follows - the length of the foot 265mm, width (girth) 104mm. The following groups of numbers are usually considered to be the date of production - month 05 (May), year 99 (1999). After the date has to be another group of figures - or a batch of goods or number of the manufacturer (encrypted so) in the photo is not visible, but it should be there.

So as I know, the whole Bundeswehr shoes are marked in this way with at least the last 40 years.

If I have not deciphered correctly labeled - correct me, feel free!

    Sergey

P.S. I wanted to attach a photo of shoe tongue from mine Kampfstiefel shoes, but as I’m new on the forum – it is forbidden to post links and pictures the first 7 days Crying or Very sad

I can confirm that this type of shoe has been around also in the period 2000-2002 and was quite sought after by guys from non-Gebirgjaeger units when they went for Jagdkampflehrgang I & II (formerly known as Einzelkämpferlehrgang EKL I & II), especially when they hat to take this course at the LL/LTS (Luftlande/ Lufttransportschule (Airbornschool)) in Altenstadt.

Cool information. So the design didn't change much over the years, but the details did? That makes sense.

Yes, these are not so old. AFAIK there's one newer design.

Steve, just for you. Today was a local flea market and saw the Bundeswehr mountain boots (old model) - I decided to take a picture for you. Note the date of production (in the language), 2 (February), 79 (1979). Also note on the bottom - polyurethane, as in the shoes Kampfstiefel 1977. The sole made of cast rubber appeared only in 1990. So this shoes was used by Bundeswehr mountain units in 1970-1980.

Cool! Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the type I have. They have been in my collection for about 16-17 years. One of the first pairs of surplus boots I ever bought. At the shop there was one pair and it was my size... I couldn't say no Wink
