    Experimental U.S. M-1 Helmet Empty Experimental U.S. M-1 Helmet

    Post by helm40 Wed Mar 16, 2011 10:45 pm

    Hello All,
Here is an experimental M-1 developed for the U.S Army. There were several models produced and tried. This model is pictured in Chris Arnold's book Steel Pots. I found the helmet on Ebay and am very pleased to add it to my collection.
    Enjoy,

This was one of those tricky Ebay finds. I think one other person bid on it. Snuck through I guess.

Nice!!! I ended up with another one from the same collection. A WW2 experimental crash helmet/liner for armored troops, which makes two experimental pieces I have now. The other being a X-51 liner, also seen in the book. Here is the crash helmet..

I used to have one of these liners I found at a flea market. It was just a shell. It was traded a long time ago. I saw one of these for sale at the tank museum in Danville VA. I think they wanted well over 200 bucks for it. Nice liner.
