Finalised a trade with a Canadian soldier I met at last year's AASAM (see here) and here is what I scored.

Neat vest! Are you planning to attend the AASAM this year?

Unfortunately not this year. Slated to instruct on a weapons course during that time but if that falls through I'll see if I can get back on the AASAM bandwagon.

To a certain extent. The bayonet holder in the front has MOLLE attachments and is removable. The front ammo and utility pouches are sewn on. The rear pouches has a velcro and strap attachment system where you can opt to place either the wattlebottle pouch or the C9 Minimi 200 rd magazine pouch.

The magazine pouches are only each single stack which puts the Canadian grunt rather lightly armed in my opinion.

interesting...maybe its designed to hold a single magazine as to allow the soldier a better position during prone position (a lower profile)?

well, its rarely seen on canadian soldiers in afghanistan these days - most equipments used by the canucks are fully modular, theres even some photos floating around the net showing canadians with Sord gear...interesting

from what i can gather , its the standard webbing of the canadian forces- equivalent to our belt webbing used in training

Just to be noted in Canada this is a criminal offence and by DND CF. Law. No CF. Soldier is allowed to sell trade or giveaway CF. Issue gear. As a Canadian I'm not allowed by Law to have in my possession Any Current Issue CF.gear ect., unless I'm serving in the CF.

That vest, the reality is it's outdated by over 12+ years. It was never designed to wear over a Flak Vest thats what CF. Calls them also 14 years and 4 GEN's behind compared to the US. I have a OTV/IBA since 05 all Molle II, all my pouches ect attach to it, no tactical vest need.

Old Doctrine all must wear Armour Vest when serving in conflict aka in country. Those front pockets holds hardly no ammo, there sewn on, and if your left handed or right can't adjust nothing only the two pouches on back.

I C on E for $200.00 some selling, for $200. you can buy a used OTV/IBA with the Level IIIA panels.

To wear for Airsoft or hunting, emergency its not a bad vest. Just my thoughts on what I know.

May I ask you some infos about its magazines pouches?
I'm interested to buy a vest like this, but I would need to know if AK74 mags and Galil mags can fit in its magazines pouches.
Is there someone who can have some ideas?
The mags pockets don't seem actually so long for this kind of magazines, but maybe I wrong...

You are right - the AK-47 or Galil magazine would be too long. They just fit a M-16 type 30 rounder mag.

    Congrats!!

I have one and some of the velcro pouches. I agree with Spañiard... it's a great piece of kit for a collector or Airsoft player, not good for a soldier. None of these LBVs are designed for body armor and they are, even without body armor, hot and heavy. Oh, and probably very expensive to make!

Easy Gee its time to put this to rest it is not illeagal for civilians to own CADPAT what cuases all the fuss is Canadian Forces General Order 120/02 as such it is covered under QR&Os (Queens Regulations and Orders) which do not apply to civilians unless they are on DND property.

    Heres the order:

UNAUTHORIZED DISPOSAL OF COMBAT UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT
    CANFORGEN 120/02 DSSPM 0089 300845Z OCT 02
    UNCLASSIFIED
    REFS:
    A. CANADIAN FORCES SUPPLY MANUAL (CFSM) A-LM-007-014-AG-001 CHAPTER 3 SECTION 2 PARAGRAPH 2
    B. CANADIAN FORCES SUPPLY MANUAL (CFSM) A-LM-007-014-AG-001 CHAPTER 28 ANNEX D APPENDIX 13
    C. NATIONAL DEFENCE ACT (NDA) PART III CODE OF SERVICE DISCIPLINE SECTION 116

THE PURPOSE OF THIS MSG IS TO REMIND MEMBERS OF REGULATIONS WITH RESPECT TO ILLEGAL SALE OR DISPOSAL OF CROWN ASSETS.

THE INTRODUCTION OF THE CANADIAN DISRUPTIVE PATTERN (CADPAT) HAS RESULTED IN A BLACK MARKET DEMAND FOR CAMOUFLAGE ITEMS WHEREBY CADPAT CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT HAVE BECOME QUOTE HOT TICKET UNQUOTE COLLECTABLES.

REF A DEFINES COMBAT CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT AS A QUOTE PERSONAL ALLOTMENT UNQUOTE ACCOUNTED FOR ON AN INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT (IA) AND ARE RETAINED BY INDIVIDUALS AS LONG AS THEY CONTINUE TO MEET THE ENTITLEMENT PARAMETERS OF THE APPLICABLE ENTITLEMENT GROUP CODE (EGC). COMBAT CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT INCLUDING CADPAT ITEMS ARE CROWN ASSETS AND MUST RPT MUST BE SURRENDERED TO THE SUPPLY SYSTEM WHEN ENTITLEMENT NO LONGER EXISTS. SERVICEABLE CADPAT RPT CADPAT ITEMS WILL BE RETAINED AND RE-ISSUED WHILE ITEMS BEYOND ECONOMICAL REPAIR SHALL BE DESTROYED LOCALLY IAW REF B.

NOTWITHSTANDING THE PENALTIES ASSOCIATED WITH UNAUTHORIZED SALE OR DISPOSAL OF COMBAT CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT AS DETAILED AT REF C, PERSONNEL ARE ALSO REMINDED THAT THE INHERENT CAMOUFLAGE AND NEAR INFRA-RED (IR) CAPABILITY OF CADPAT MATERIAL OR OTHER ITEMS INCORPORATING STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY FALLS UNDER FORCE PROTECTION. SUCH CAPABILITY IN THE WRONG OR ENEMY HANDS JEOPARDIZES THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF CANADIAN TROOPS. CADPAT PATTERNS AND TECHNICAL DATA ARE PATENT AND COPYRIGHT PROTECTED. ADDITIONALLY, THE DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENCE (DND) HAS ACQUIRED THE TRADEMARK FOR EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE CADPAT ACRONYM. MEMBERS ARE ADVISED THAT CADPAT COMBAT CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT IS STILL IN DELIVERY AND EVERY SET COUNTS.

The high-lighted part is what DND quotes as their main reason all the time but anyone can buy better US issue kit with better NIR capabilities from the manufacturers.

sorry about the all caps I just cut & pasted

If you are concerned about Canadian Military Police coming to your house take a black felt marker and put a big D on the item (about 1.5 - 2 inches tall) someplace out of the way or on a label.

I dunno what the status is today, but about 12 years ago I knew a surplus dealer that was almost arrested for selling used CADAPT items in Canada. He bought them surplus from the local base, they had "D" marks on them, and he had all the paperwork to prove he paid the Crown a bunch of money for them. One day MPs came and grabbed him at an outdoor market at the same time they were raiding his shop. He explained that he bought them as legitimate surplus and they said "prove it". He said he had the paperwork at his house. They drove him to his house, right then and there, and he went inside and came back out with the documents. They looked at them, grunted, and let him go. However, they took every single piece of CADPAT (except for the helmet covers) that he still had. This included a surplus helmet he bought, which he was holding for me until I came up a few months later.

I also know that I've been warned, several times, by eBay that they would pull my account if I listed CADPAT items for sale. Again, complete with "D" marks.

One of our members, under the age of 18, was detained for having bought a bunch of CADPAT and other surplus items (IIRC a bayonet) items. They were all confiscated to the tune of $500 CDN. The experience was pretty frightening for him.

So I don't know what the story is, but certainly some in the Canadian government believe it is illegal to possess CADPAT and are willing to act on it.

I guess it's just me, but I somehow find it ironic that it's still 'Queen's Regulations..' and 'Crown assets' when you guys have kicked the Union Jack off your flag and (until recently) revamped the old commonwealth-type rank structure!
