Hammer's Africaners on the board has been sending me some really fantastic 1/1 patches over the last couple years , in the last batch he also sent probably close to 100 1/72 armor kits and figures in 2 very large boxes , which was a complete surprise too me !!!
Having not built a model in many years now not counting 1/6th , I decided to take a couple days and mess around , first thing I have noticed is the eyes and hands are not what they used to be , I just dont really have the chops for it anymore , but that wont stop me !!!!!
The 250/9 below is what I put together , its the old version of the ESCI kit with the rubber tracks , I really wish there was a source for the individual links that came in the later kits , as crazy as it sounds , they look so much better then the rubber bands , and photo etch , any way , please dont judge too harshly , its been many years LOL .
Assembly was the most difficult , these parts are tiny , and I just cant see to trim them up right any more , so there are bad gaps , but what can you do , I think I am going to invest in one of those magnifying things for the next one LOL getting old sucks !

You might want to check out DML, they may make individual track links for the halftrack at a cheap price. Not shure about Tamiya and Verlinden, they would be too much. There may be others too.

Even when I was in my teens, with my (still functional) 20/20 vision, doing 1/72 stuff was too tedious for me. 1/32 all the way, baby!

The 251/9 is one of my favorites.

Looks like the ones they had in Normandy. In the AA role, you would have to be awfully lucky to shoot down a jabo with that 20mm cannon and a 10 round mag, even 20rd mag would need luck.

They said in real life, the motor was really loud on this particular halftrack. Can’t imagine doing reconnaissance work in something like that. Have seen the Tamiya version in 1/35th, some years back, wonder if they improved on it. Had nice MP40 with 5-6 Mag pouch or so near the passenger/driver seat, and some mediocre interior detailing. Think the 20mm had the short 10rd mag since 20rd mag was too long to fit in turret.

    1/35th Scale rules!
