Land 125 DPDU Empty Land 125 DPDU

    Post by Camo_fiend Wed Nov 16, 2011 3:28 am

I'm pleased to announce that I've got a set of DPDU in my collection now, thanks to a great trade. This is without a doubt my favourite desert pattern.

The top has seen a bit more love than the trousers; but in person the colour difference isn't nearly as contrasted as the photos make it appear -- lighting and camera flashes can have funky effects on uniforms sometimes (especially with my camera) Laughing

But no worries whatsoever, I am still extremely excited to finally have a set. Very Happy

The tag is missing, but the shirt is an Australian size 95R.

    Trouser label.

    Thanks for looking!

    Well done to you, Ben!

I have seen so many pleas and 'wanted'-messages from you on these tricky patterns and heard your frustrated camo cries after particular nasty eBay loose-outs, so it warms my heart you've bagged these beauties! Kudo's to you!

Are the Oz material government controlled since it is so insanely hard to come by?

Not so hard to come by. Just expensive.

Very expensive, but if you have the slightest preference to size or condition it seems damned near impossible to find the perfect set.

But will the Aussie's grind up a perfectly good, surplused set rather than let us at it?

Thanks Ronny, I'm excited to have it, for sure! Yes, due to my eclectic taste in camos, it tends to be frustrating sometimes when searching for the patterns I am after, especially when on a smaller budget than I've had in the past. Laughing As Philip said, it's the price that makes the DPDU impractical to obtain sometimes. And people with faster bid-clicking skills than me!

Regarding government control over the kit, I am not sure... as far as I know, DPDU is only issued to Australian soldiers headed to the Middle East, and then turned back in once they come home. I've heard of old cams being cut up for polishing rags, but I'm not sure how the actual disposal process goes.

    Thanks for looking!
