The '51 is my favourite, of ours. Still looks like a proper Field Jacket. Adding Velcro ruined them, as did taking all of the fitting out of the sleeves, IMHO.

    Thank you, G,

The M51 is very clean, it even came with the correct wool frieze liner...

It also came with a cool but not correct M43 hood that I will not use until I find a legit M 43 field coat.

Nice one and even better it came with the liner.

Wasnt aware there was a specific hood for these,Ive only seen the M1943 ones.

There may be 2 M51 hoods.  I may still have one of the button on  hoods with the wolf fur around the front of it.     Heavy  cotton/nylon with a woolen inside, if I remember correctly.
Have to look for it, now.

There may have been a plain hood without the fur, as well, but   M43 hoods were used widely with the M51, as they were plentiful, cheap, and light  in weight.

Got this M51  a few days ago.

This particular serviceman has  had a pretty lengthy career.

As a  1st. Lt. he was part of the 11th Abn. Division . Apparently he was a pilot.

With the M51 came an early HBT shirt named to this officer that has been stripped of insignia except for  Name and US ARMY tapes.

    Will post it elsewhere...
