I have been looking for the M48 two color "waves" uniform for 15 years. And hard. I had one set of brutalized trousers offered to me, but the guy sold them to someone else (I assume... never heard back from him). I've seen pics of a smock in private hands, not for sale. This is in my Top 5 Must Haves and I doubt I'll get one.

Oooooooh, I can't even begin to imagine what one could, would or should throw into a trade for those ones...

Very well done to you, Sir! First pair of 'wave' pattern trousers I've even ever seen! Good condition too!

I have some very "special" Strichtarn camouflage I would consider trading for those trousers...

It was worn by Belgian paratroopers that stormed the Führerbunker during the Suez Crisis in 1973. Ultra rare! Very Happy

I have a "beater" one of these (button variant, like this one) that I wear around sometimes. I actually wore it by accident around the Pentagon when visiting a friend there. I got some strange looks Smile

That's a nice example, snatch a pair of trousers while they are abundant and cheap.

I'm amazed at how large the Belgian forces must have been around the 1950s, they're putting out a lot of surplus from that period!

Belgian Army (or was it the whole military?) was in excess of 300,000 in the 1950s. This was because they were trying to retain/regain control of their colonial possessions. Once that bubble got burst they downsized dramatically. There's a reason it is difficult to find camouflage clothing made in the 1960s... they had enough in stock to outfit their Army several times over so they didn't produce much until the 1970s.

They don't come in better condition than that. It's also a very uncommon 1957 production date. If I didn't have one just like it, same manufacturer and date, I'd be bidding on it. Belgium is one of a handful of countries I'll buy things just for the info on the tags. Which is rather stupid, but that's just the way I am sometimes Wink

Probably from the shelter halves. Common end to such things. And the Belgians made tons of them. Every time I think I've seen the last cheap supply of them another batch comes up. Up until last week I still had two spares. Funny, though. In Belgium they are quite rare because most of them appear to have come to the US. Sportsmans Guide was selling them for $10 a pop for a while.

    Yeah Raff,
That heist would go over well with the Belgian Commandoes. Better to check with Major Herman de Prins, as maybe he could help you out. Just tell him that I sent you. He helped me out with a few Belgian smocks, plus a few complete uniforms...we did some horse trading as his team wanted Chris Reeves Green beannie knives. Hope he is well. Bruce

Variations of the British Dennison style made in one of two Brush patterns between 1953 and 1955, with at least one batch made in the late 1960s IIRC. Jigsaw style made from 1960s through 1980s.

They are not too difficult to find on eBay or even some Internet shops. But they are definitely becoming harder to find than a few years ago when the Belgians emptied their warehouses. Prices are all over the place, but I personally would not spend more than $100 for even a mint one. Of course I can say that because I have pretty much one of everything in mint condition already because I had a source in the warehouse before they were emptied Smile
