DPM Para Smock-1st Type "77 Pattern"

Post by Gulf91 on Sun Jun 26, 2011 12:14 pm

Now i have shocked myself Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

How worrying is it that i have so much stuff i dont even know what i have myself Embarassed Embarassed

Been having a bit of a tidy up today and found this smock that i didnt even know i had but over the moon that i do Laughing Laughing Laughing

Quite a rare beast as can be seen by the size label-washed out but SIZE 1 is still visible.(pre 1984).

Main difference is no FFD pocket on Right sleeve and also the pop studs are different to later smocks.

Heh... I love accidental finds like this. Unless I just bought something and found out I already had one Very Happy

While I think of it, I just bought a para smock similar to this but with integrated padding all over the place. It's badged for "Second Fusiliers", 7th Armored Division. Do I have a para smock or a sniper smock?

This is nice! I like the grenade-ring zipper pull.

Cool! Thanks for the confirmation. When it arrives I'll post pictures. Probably won't be here for a few months as it is going to sit in Germany for a little while before making its way to me.

Look forwards to see if its in official issue smock or a modified possibly unit level conversion as mine is(on a different thread).

With all those pads, I doubt it is a conversion. Most of the undersides of both arms, outside shoulders, and front shoulders all appear to have individual pads sewn into the cloth. Beavertail and snapped pockets too.

Dang, now I'm wanting to have it in hand now!

There are probably more differences between the early 1st type and later ones but the main difference is that the 1st patt-referred to by collectors as the 77 pattern has NO FFD pocket on the right sleeve.

    Lol Wink

Its not a bad price considering the prices some people charge for the modern smocks, and not to mention the copy 95 pattern Para Smocks.

Modern Para Smocks i would estimate value wise in the real world(NOT the mad Ebay prices some crap goes for) depending on condition £10-£30 max.

Finding an original early smock with legible label(not a modern smock with FFD pocket removed) £50 upwards if you are lucky enough to find one.
