Anyone got any ideas on these 58 Patt bits??

The pack and poncho roll are a strange pea green/khaki colour.Material is similar to British made but the metalwork is poorer and the strap ends are different. Also have but cannot find at the moment a couple of 1st pattern waterbottle carriers with the twistlock closure in the same colour webbing.

Other pack is a mix of pea green and green webbing-again metalwork is poor but strap ends are the same as Brit webbing.

The pea green pack and poncho roll are ink stamped BEEWYSE who i believe were webbing makers during WW2.

    Iraqi,Pakistani??

Could be from anywhere. Companies all over Asia were making '58 pattern webbing at least in the 1980's when I was based in Hong Kong. I even have a manufacturer's catalogue from that time which features both '58 and '44 pattern webbing copies.

I'll have a more detailed search this weekend .. still coming down from a talk my collector group organised with a couple of Australian airmen from WWII, one a night fighter ace, the other a Bomber Command pilot and Pathfinder.

    The Greatest Generation indeed ....

Hope this starts a trend .. as we have a 'Rat of Tobruk' and an ex- Rhodesian Selous Scout/South African Parabat lined up for future talks!
