    hi henry,

thanks for the photos, very cool.

Are the icelandic army wearing Norwegian uniforms? Or those are actually norwegian soldiers?

I have always understood that Iceland didn't maintain a standing army. From what I can gather, they are members of the Crisis Response Unit, a peacekeeping force maintained by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. And they are indeed wearing Norwegian uniforms.

From Wikipedia, regarding the status of the ICRU:
Wikipedia wrote:Despite being equipped and trained as a military force, some Icelandic politicians commonly maintain that the ICRU is a civilian unit. This opinion is based on the fact that no law explicitly states that the unit is a military force. The legal status of the ICRU can thus be compared to the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, even though Icelandic law holds no legal obstructions to forming of military units.

hey danilo, yes the soldier in the photo belongs to iceland....Camo_fiend hit it spot on,the quote that came with the photo claims that as well.

i once had a full library of the icelandic soldiers in afghanistan, but it has been lost in time...

I don't think he is a Kiwi. He's got the tab fastening of a Brit pouch at the rear of his borrowed Australian webbing and he's modified a DPM Mk.6 helmet cover to fit over an Aust-issue Kevlar helmet. Looks like he might be on a short-term attachment to Australia.

With reference to that picture just above here of the RM Major, that is the first example of CS95 DPM Shorts ever being worn, I knew they existed but have never seen an example.

To be completly honest I havent a doddle, however I can inform you that, to my knowledge, each regiment has their own specific dress regulations, so I will imagine it will depend on those, however dress regs are subject to change by the commanding officer at any time, but he has guidlines to go by. This however is only an educated guess? I'd be more than happy to be corrected by anyone who knows different.

I can assure you he definately is a Brit para, I remember this picture from years ago he was attached to 3 RAR (para) for K95

This pic was taken just after landing in the drop zone (Bing Bong) during exercise K95.
Kangaroo 95 (K95) Was at the time the largest military exercise held in Australia since ww2

spot on with the gunner.. i do beleive he is a pathfinder for the 16 Air assault bde, hence the non issue gear

RMCs sure are well trained and tough, but remember it all goes down to mr prime minister and his gang that decide what they do

Looks like a commercial DPCU boonie, probably made by Combat Clothing in Southport, Queensland. Ventilation was not by eyelets by rather by a single sewn buttonhole on each side of the hat. I used to have one of these hats, and wore it 'til it fell apart ... should have kept it for a SEAL impression!

They were in between - similar to a US Vietnam era boonie. Looks like they still sell them but as the narrow brim bush hat.
