My guess it is original. I am unaware of fake berets like this.

Do you already have a facemask? I'm pretty sure I have a spare somewhere if you do not have one already.

    Cheers,

Steve,my doubt due because I read in book di Laszlo Bekesi, these berets as "very rare".
So I think €18,00 for this beret, It's very low price....

I get my KMLK compete of facemask just a few days ago. Very Happy

    Many thanks Steve for information.

Were there actually berets made in this style or were there just beret covers? I got out of collecting Russian/Soviet equipment about 20 years ago, and I never got huge into uniforms (loved my knives and bayonets) so I don't know. All of them that I had, and it didn't matter which camouflage pattern, were all beret covers.

They aren't rare in my opinion, but they are difficult to find without a full uniform. Which means the price is usually proportionally higher if you just want a part of the set. Yes, technically they are all "covers" and not true berets. I don't know if soldiers wore them as berets, but I suspect they would.

All the one and two piece sets, for both Soviet and early Russian KLMK type uniforms, had beret (cover), face mask, and hood. At least all that I've seen have that.
