Jacket is a lightweight ripstop material

Pants are a made from wind proof material

This is how most if not all modern armies uniforms are going, two different weights of fabric.
Elbows and knees are reinforced with ubacs foam inserts
Pants have double close system on the pockets, Velcro and button.

Items were listed as desert trousers and jacket, I noticed the Velcro on the arms on the eBay advert.

I also snagged a set of sparse trousers at the same price !

the shirt is part of the new PCS - Personal Clothing System, which is replacing the CS95 and evolved from the PECOC, troops in theatre are getting issued that style of shirt in MTP and the trousers with the tilted map pockets and button covers, never seen it in DDPM however, great find!

Yes. Is not PECOC. Its trial pattern PrePCS. MoD make some different trials pattern and check who is better.

noticed a couple of differences between the two 'smocks', i.e. the little tab on the collar and positioning of the velcro patches, would love to know how many variants there are.

Do you think the CS06 label is the date of style, like CS95? Really good kit and does appear just like PCS shirt/jacket. The trousers with extra pockets are super cool too, better than MTP PCS.

06 trials , looks mass trial with regular issue style tags at the side of my other shirt with a plastic paper tag with internal info.
