    Mmmmmmh...RDF camo...

Say, the RDF sets are always dubbed 'intermediates' between ERDL and M81 woodland camo, but I have yet to read real accounts on why there is so many variants in fabric, but such a uniform shape in construction (the beautiful and practical pleated pockets especially) on the RDF uniforms.
Were the US army and navy merey burning off ERDL material, green and brown dominant, and meanwhile testing the more M81-esque colours as the middle shirt?

    Very nice jackets indeed, Ed!

There are basically three types of fabric. Two types are the ones used for the Vietnam era. I am sure that leftover rolls of fabric were used up first, then the M81 colored cloth was introduced. Or maybe the M81 colored type was there from the beginning alongside the Vietnam patterns. I forget. However, I don't think any of the last year or two of production were made in anything but M81 colored cloth. Note that there were some bad print runs and the colors can fade to be very different.

BTW, the camouflage shapes are not the same between the Vietnam cloth and the M81 colored type. At least I think that's how it broke down. I posted a comparison picture on this Forum somewhere, but I can't find it.
