MTP Helmet Covers. Empty MTP Helmet Covers.

    Post by Gulf91 Fri Nov 11, 2011 6:55 am

Was reading an article online from SOLDIER magazine where a senior officer is complaining about his(and other) troops modifying their helmet covers with nets etc or even using desert covers due to the crap fit of the MTP cover.

The article claims that the first MTP covers were made for the Mk6A and would fit the MK7 but not very well and that there was a purpose made, shaped cover in the pipeline for the MK7.

So my question is,can everybody lucky enough to own an MTP cover please post some pics-ideally of the cover on a helmet and then of the issue label.

    Thanks.

And for the cover on the helmet look

    https://iacmc.forumotion.com/t5522-general-service-mk7-helmet

You have to tape the corners otherwise you have the same look as a MK6/a.
Helmet and cover are both medium/regular ones and its right the fitting on the MK7 is not very good.
My cover fits better on my MK6A with the same size Rolling Eyes

Thanks Sal for the great pics.

As that one is clearly labelled MK7 is it shaped in any way?

NO its the same trim as the MK6 covers.
I think its labeled MK7 'cause its in MTP and that is the current pattern and exclusive for the new MK7 helmet.
    Just my opinion!
You can use it just as well for the MK6 and it looks like the DPM, DDPM covers.

That are rubber brackets which holds the inner liner, all MK6-7 have it.

Sal ,Very nice example of the new Mk7 lid, and cover.

I have a Mk6a with 2010 era MTP cover ,which is marked on the label as Mk6 not Mk6a, I think with the transition of Mk6a to Mk7 and the new MTP pattern there must have been a bit of confusion somewhere along the lines with the MoD...strange but very interesting, I'm getting confused just typing this up!! THe MK7 specific cover is supposedly shaped to fit the MK7 as there were loads of complaints that the other cover didnt fit properly.

May the new covers, my cover is exact shaped as the old MK6 ones.
Can I identify the date of manufacture on my label?

Strange with the MK6 labeled cover.

Rich This does not appear to be the case, if you look at recent pics or documentaries, all troops wearing Mk7's have their covers taped in place with sniper tape to follow the lower profile of the lid Exclamation

Yep,that seems to be the case but i did read it somewhere on an official site that there should be a MK7 shaped cover to suit the cover-as to if there is,who knows.

It would be interesting to see the inside, for the last pic it don't look that the cover has a special trim for the MK7.
May it has a kint of strap inside (similar like the PASGT covers) to hoist the cover on the corners.
