Anyone got any ideas on this please?

No idea if the carrying strap is original to the canteen but came with it.

No markings at all i can see on the bottle or mug.

Could be an East German medic canteen, it looks like one to me.

Don't look like NVA-DDR sanitäter ones but it's quite similar. By the brown leather i would guess Czechslovakia but could be from any other eastern bloc army.

    Best regards

Thanks guys, shame it isnt stamped at all.

If the carrying strap is original to the bottle it has brass British 37Patt type fittings if that helps narrow it down???

P37 brass? You just added more mysterie to it and i like good mysteries Twisted Evil

Can you take a photo of the bottle itself? It's form is most unusual.

    Thanks

I also don't think it is DDR. Here are the possibilities I can think of:

    1. Civilian. There are a lot of European youth organizations (Americans should think Boy Scouts) that used camping equipment similar to military types of the same era.

    2. Red Cross. Similar to above.

    3. Early post war Danish? Danes used items similar to British, but with their own twist.

Well, that's all I could think of!

Also looks like a late WWII Japanese home front association issued canteen.
These were the units that manned AAA guns around major city's and did basic first aid on hurt people.

I was thinking Danish myself due to the strap.Inside the neck is reinforced with a vinyl/plastic/pvc type material.
