    Mystery 6 Colour trousers...puzzling!! Empty Mystery 6 Colour trousers...puzzling!!

Post by Easy Gee Mon May 07, 2012 7:25 am

Guys,I picked these trousers up yesterday from a car boot sale for £3.00, they have the obvious look of US 6 Colour, but the pattern and fit is an exact copy of CS95 , down the pocket on the butt, the belt loops, etc. These have an almost hand made look to them the sewing quality is poor to say the least. The pockets are made of 6 colour ripstop material, the ankles have eyelets with some black nylon cord in them, the buttons are OG and again look hand sewn on, but there is a quality YKK zip in them.Overall a complete mystery, if they are commercial, then they must be rejects on a grand scale, if they are from a third world producer I would be keen to find out where from, if they are a hand made item, then the person was very clever indeed..what do you all think about these trousers and my theories Question

very interesting choc chip... i don't think they are commercial, unless it's a "reject" production run... my guess? somewhere in africa... poor standards and quality to uniforms usually means it comes from a poor country. for being a desert pattern, africa would be my first guess, probably the western africa, somalia, eritrea, egypt, rwanda are just a few countries who uses, or used choc chip patterns...

as for gilles lizard, i have no idea.... very nice pants thou

Hiya Mate, many thanks for your input, I don't think they are commercial either, and obviously I am hoping they belong to some nation or other, and it goes without saying the quality is very poor and reject sums them up nicely, I am hoping they may be African or Middle Eastern issue, so I really do appreciate your comments, it would be fantastic to Id them, especially as they were so cheap , and I nearly passed on them, as I couldn't recognise them as a distinct garment...thanks and fingers crossed on my part. Very Happy

    Cheers

    Hi Gary,
    no worries,
i don't think they are middle eastern... although many ME countries uses choc-chip pattern, their "issued" uniforms do have a more quality than this, the "taylor" made ones as well, plus the cut, specially the belt loops are not your usual middle eastern style... I still think western africa is a better guess... What countries does the UK train, or has good "army" relationship with? that might be a good indication... maybe a soldier brought some "souvenirs" back home - Chad could also be a possibility, they have no manufacturing standards, but all the choc chip stuff i've seeing from them has a different color scheme...
Hope will be able to figure where your pants are from...

i attached a pic of an yemeni, jordanian and kuwait choc chip uniforms, most middle easter uniforms have same kind of belt loop on them...

    Hi danillo.

That's a really interesting point about these trousers , I had not even thought about UK troops training in Africa..great I will look into this aspect Cool

And many thanks for posting your examples of M.E trousers, I can clearly see the difference in the belt loops between mine, these could well be bring backs or a trade of some sort.

The stall I got them off, was nothing but British DPM and webbing, I don't know if the woman running the stall was selling off her husbands "crap", I queried with her about the history of the trousers, she said she thought they were American ( I knew definitely not) other than that no clues.

    Could Libyan as well ???

Cheers Mate your input is invaluable Very Happy
