Swedish M90 cap - the real McCoy or a rotten ploy? Empty Swedish M90 cap - the real McCoy or a rotten ploy?

    Hello good folks,

Got this for a measly 8 GBP and seller said 'genuine' Swedish issue. Now I know, I know; if it sounds too good to be true...

But has any more experience with these than me? Are they the genuine article?

Label says 100% cotton in Swedish, carry washing instructions and a large 'M', but no crowns or makers mark.
    Cheers!

Wu-huh! Two of the Demi-Gods of IACMC gave their approval!

That makes it as good as great in my book!

Cheers to the both of you!

But I concur with you Dr. Matz; the feel, make and overall quality is not going to win it any single-piece-M90 popularity contests, but you've gotta love those fold-out ear flaps!

actually it does not look like either field hat m59, field hat m90 or fur head M59.

What is the material on it? I know most hat made out of 50/50 cotton (Bomull) and polyester some lighter hat uses 65/35 and Kakhi uses 88/12

does it have the srown stamp? If not, then it probably commercial hunting gear....

The cutting look like fur59 hat..but the cutting is a bit odd i think.

I bought the same cap when I was in Sweden from a shop in Stockholm. The one I bought is commercial, and it looks identical to the one you've posted. The people at the store said soldiers buy them to wear. You can see it on my old website: http://martinscamo.zxq.net/ Look under Northern Europe and then Sweden. In the shop they were also selling identical uniforms to the issue ones, made by the same manufacturer, Sweden shoulder flag, even identical tags just without the 3-crown Govt logo. They said it is illegal for them to sell Govt contract items that the Government had paid for.

But for 8 GBP, that's still a bargain, I paid about $30 for mine...

No official stamps or anything, and I suspected it myself of being a hunting cap, but I think overall design appart from the Velcro suspension, looked much like the genuine article OD caps I've seen, down to the many sticthes on the soft visor.

Anyhoo 8 Quid still got me a good hat for walks and other outdoor activities!

Most store in Sweden sell Surplus (Offical Garment but never issue) as martin say Issue item mean the government paid for it and issue to the soldier, when a soldier return oversea or discharge, they are supposed to return all the garment and if they cannot return them full price are charged.

I used to know a website in Swedish tell people how much government pay for the item and how much they worth in civilian market. I just remember it cost the Swedes 331 krs to pay for a M90P field jacket and they turn around and sell them for 700-1400 krs

Most legit (WHat i mean legit i mean soldier pay for it, not stole them from somewhere) issue swedish gear can be seen in swedish e-bay (called Tradera or something) those the the item the soldier bought them themselve by not returning them to the government.) if you are lucky, there are some issued item in flea market and places like that in Sweden.
