French beret badges are hard to find in the US. Here's my two:

The 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (French: 2ème Régiment Étranger de Parachutistes, 2e REP) is an airborne regiment of the French Foreign Legion, stationed at Camp Raffalli near the town of Calvi on the island of Corsica, just south of mainland France. It is part of the 11th Parachute Brigade[1] and the spearhead of the French Rapid reaction force.

Gary the 2REP beret you posted i would bet it's private purchase. Frenchies like portuguese have the habit of buy a substitute beret to wear daily and keep the hard achieved one rested. I wonder if this happens elsewhere.

What is the significance of the embroidery on the two red berets?

And yes it's very much common practice in teh UK to haev two (or more) berets.

Hi Albano, I don't know, but what you said makes a lot of sense, the green is slightly different than my 3 e REI Beret which I am 100% sure is genuine, so maybe it is a substitute beret. Either way it was cheap compared to British prices ( I bought this one from Switzerland.)

I do know from personal experience that RMC buy a secondary Beret for everyday wear, and keep their original commando course awarded one for best.

The embroidery signifies the wearer as being a member of the 1st Parachute Hussar Regiment (French: 1er Régiment de Hussards Parachutistes, 1er RHP) - an airborne cavalry unit.

Airborne cavalry must have a hell of a job training horses to parachute LOL
