Re: SAS Beret
still nice !! Most guys will keep their original berets and the harder they are worn the better. That's for any regiment and not just 22. However, having a smarter one for special occasions and parades is a smart thing to do.
I still have my berets for both my units and they will probably get passed on to my son and left in a bag for grandchildren to discover and perhaps cherish. Much as with my grandfathers stuff. To my son i'm just dad and my service is something i've never discussed. Interest seems to skip a generation like the dreaded ginger hair does !

Hi Dave
I still have mine from my time in the army in the early 80's and I have no intention of parting with it

Graham,I personally don't think that being a Private Purchase Beret makes it any less exciting or collectable.
At least you know where it came from, and there's none of the speculation often connected to SF stuff..I can think of many potential items that "MIGHT" be SBS that I own which are definitely R.M.C issue, but without the provenance they are practically worthless!

Re: SAS Beret
Hi Garry
Yeh that is a major problem with SF kit, Im not going to part with it soon and altho I have not been asked to keep his Identity to my self I will, if I decide to part with the beret I will ask him for a letter of authenticty as I know he will not have a problem doing so.

Good idea Mate, a letter of authenticity would certainly be an excellent selling point to back up this piece
