    Peace-Keeper Situation Handbook 1995

Post by JYN on Thu Jul 12, 2012 6:35 pm

    Hello,

I just found in my documentation the little Blue Book that I get back to 1995 and which was mainly sold in ex-Yugoslavia.

The author took shots of all uniforms, patches and insigneas of multinational troops there.

French, English, Malaysia, Swiss, Swedish, Russian, etc... as well as new armies or currencies of ex Yugoslavia.

380 of pictures in color. A curiosity rather than a study... but a reference book for collectors.

    JYN

    Few extracts.

Well I was used to sell it back to 1995. The same author did a second one; I sold it but do not keep one for me.

These books are probably done by the same author as the little blue book in the beginning of this thread, but these are massive. They are about 350 pages each and have pictures of uniforms, weapons, vehicles, badges and all kind of other military equipment used in the area. The first two volumes are from the UNPROFOR/ IFOR/ SFOR missions and the third volume is for the KFOR mission. The "Who is Who in the Balkans" is a mix of the three first.

    Peacekeeper Recognition Guides

Those are great books! I bought copies of the Peacekeeper Recognition Guides from one of the PXs in Butmir, Sarajevo while on tour there with NATO in 2000.

Not sure where I picked up the two first volumes, but I think it was in the PX of the Norwegian Inf Bn in Modrica. The third volume and "Who is Who" book was probably picked up in one of the PXes in KFOR HQ/ Film City just outside Pristina.

Excellent books and it just jogged my memory from seeing them that I have one somewhere.

Dug it out and unfortunately not as detailed as yours but still some great info and pics.

Janes Balkans Handbook, traded with me from a returning L Cpl Royal Welch Fusiliers(amongst some other bits)after returning from a tour of Bosnia early 2000 if I remember correctly.

I remember the Janes Balkan Handbook and I think I have it somewhere. There are also books from the US DoD with a lot of interesting information. I know there are at least two for Bosnia (IFOR and SFOR) and one for Kosovo (KFOR) issued, but there are probably other ones for different missions. Maybe some of the US members have seen these?
