I bought this dagger over 25 years ago.It shows the motto and the swastika diamond has the fish scale pattern. It has been rather enthusiastically sharpened probably by a young boy.Unfortunately the RZM and makers mark are very worn and the finger guard is damaged.Judging by the Ricaso, blade thickness and motto it does seem to be an early dagger 1936-1938.

Re: Hitler Youth knive
Hello Silverback, could you please try to take a macro shot of the marking, although faded?

Re: Hitler Youth knive
it looks decent but I do not believe it is early war, most likely late war. It is still a nice piece, I double checked my reference and they are bringing $150-$200 in that condition.

Re: Hitler Youth knive
Hi sgtfcm unfortunately the markings are so faded I can only see them at a certain angle. It looks like RZM 7/36.
Hi civilww2collector I think it is a transitional dagger 36/38 because the early daggers 33/36 did not have a ricasso and the late ones 38/45 apparently did not have a motto.

^ Agreed however, some late war variations do have the motto, but you are probably right about it being a transitional dagger. Still a nice piece!
