DPM 4 colour skirt, yes skirt !!! Empty DPM 4 colour skirt, yes skirt !!!

Post by Easy Gee Mon Aug 27, 2012 9:54 am

    Hi Guys.

As some of you may be aware I love the weird and wonderful, so I reckon this DPM 4 colour skirt fits into this category. I picked it up from a surplus shop, and paid about £2, it appears to be professionally made, the machine stitching is very neat and skilfully done, there are no labels or stamps.

If it is a worthless piece of crap, then that's no worries, as I paid very little, but I am curious to know the origins of a camo skirt??
This camo was made in the UK,supplied to Iraq, and I believe UAE, so I wonder if this is a middle eastern skirt, but then again do Middle eastern military women wear skirts?, and if so, to me it would make more sense to wear trousers..I don't know?, but it is a bit "out there" so I like it all the same.

    Any ideas, comments or theories.

I bought one of these about 1987 from a carboot sale. I was in cadets and I chopped it up to make scrim rags to tie on my webbing and that. It was the same without a doubt. Is yours made from a single sheet of cloth ? Mine was about a 4ft sheet once taken apart.

No Mate, this err "Skirt" is made of two pieces of cloth sewn down the outside seams with pleats.

It has been taken up at some point at the hem, maybe the sqauddie chick, wanted to show a bit more leg????

Odd thing, but will serve a purpose I'm sure Wink

Yeah mine was too but was made from a single length of fabric , only sewn up at the rear. When I took it apart it made like a 4ft flat sheet of fabric. Other than that I can't remember much as in pockets or fastenings cos all I wanted it for was the cloth.

A 4 foot sheet sounds good, mine is in two parts if I unpick it, and won't be a square piece of cloth, oh well might be good for something Wink

    Hi Gary
I turned the fabric from the skirt into a couple of Rhodesian style flap caps.worked quite well too.
