Hi Guys.

One of my favourite camo patterns, superb salty Jacket..enjoy.

Is the HBT bias reversed on this specimen?

It looks like the actual weave of the fabric zig-zags opposite the way that HBT usually goes.

Aha,thank you,I see what you now, to be honest it's not an aspect of these Jackets I was aware of before now, the HBT pattern does seem to run diagonally,vertically,and horizontally, on the different pieces of material, that make up this particular Jacket.

I assume on other Jackets, the HBT runs all in the same direction then?

It just stuck me as odd-looking. I wondered what the cause was. Zigzag patterns mess with my head, so the fact that I saw this and wondered about it isn't surprising. The camouflage does a fine job of throwing symmetry off, and then the weave of the fabric further distorts.

I suppose that attests to the effectiveness of it, right?

--Dude... I just looked at it again, and it IS running horizontal. This with the diagonal run of the stripe makes it fascinating. For giggles,check out the WWII HBT I posted a month ago:



That's how most HBT fabric I have ever seen runs-- vertical. It is evident on several things I am looking at right now, French Lizard included, and every single civilian garment I own that's made of HBT (Burberry & Brooks Brothers broadcloth, too).

I'm not trying to act like some jerk who made a fabulous discovery, or anything-- but that really does make the pattern cooler.

Nice shirt. Pre-1962 so likely an Algerian veteran.

I'm with you all the way Mate, I am a real fan of any HBT garments ( especially French as a top preference).

Some of my French F1 jackets are HBT, and are preferable to me over the standard OG satin 300 material, so yeah I know what you mean about HBT generally

I got it from a seller based in France, he described it as a legion vet's piece,dunno about that?,but your input on the era of the jacket is great news!!
