    Ma che c#zzo ?

    Very interesting piece.

Have seen this particular piece before, as have some other members of this forum.

This is not a jump smock.  Jump smocks have a  very different cut.

Only speculation, but .. Elements of 2nd Marine Division  did work with Italian forces in Lebanon and elsewhere in the Mediterranean during the '80s and continue to have liaison with the Italian military today .

Mr. Lanza could have been an interpreter or  in a liaison position.

Good score, not something common at all....

    S

PS.  During the '70s-  '80s  social security numbers were ( stupidly ) used as serial numbers, as is obvious with this piece.
Some states including Virginia used SS #s  as  driver ID numbers.

Nope...sorry. Not a genuine item. Firstly, Marines during this time did not-EVER- wear other countries uniforms. Period. Secondly, Marines at this period did not wear name tags. Lastly, Marines do not identify at Divisional level. Rather, they identify at battalion level-for example, 2nd battalion 8th Marine Regiment (2\8 or second battalion eighth Marines) , and stenciling on the back of your jacket is just name and number for shipboard laundry services and does not carry unit identifiers.
Not a real used jacket, probably something cooked up by some bored Jarhead someplace for giggles.
I WAS a bored jarhead during the 1980's and this is just the kind of thing I might have done just to mess with people-although I wouldn't let the Gunny catch me in it!

Looks like it might be a 'party' shirt. Something to impress the bar girls ...
