    Hallo,

Is the attached jacket a British DPM P68 produced jacket or a copy from another country? The white label in the neck looks a bit weird and it seems there are no other labels present.

The white label looks like it was user made and hand stitched in. From its location on the neck it looks like it is a 'night time' marker. When marching in column at night it can be hard to see the person in front hence labels like this were sewn in to avoid people getting separated from the column. During the day the collar would be folded down as per normal to conceal the label. Serves pretty much the same purpose as the phosphorescent 'cat eyes' seen on US headwear and helmet bands.

Agreed. Looks like the lining material has been expertly removed. I have seen this done before to turn it into a 'light' temperate jacket.

I have a pair of 68 Patt trs that have had the lining removed. Given to me by a Falklands vet who said that while the lining did offer some extra warmth,he and a lot of others removed it as once the trs were wet they were a bugger to dry so makes sense I guess to remove the lining from the smock as well.

    Hello,

Thanks for your answers. I was told this was an Iraqi sample but there's no proof of that it really is. Maybe the UK exported some to Iraq but I don't think I have any pictures of Iraqi troops with P68 jackets.

That would be very difficult to prove.

But they have copied the design of the P68 in some other patterns (the Republican Guard airborne lizard smock if I'm not mistaken), meaning they have come across these jackets at some point..

So in this case: a picture says more than 1000 words. Cool

I hope someone can post a picture
