Very cool uniforms, Steve! The one in the middle of the top photo is almost a "ghost" pattern...do you have more information on it?

The first picture, top left, is an experimental type that was used for Paras and possibly Legion. There are two versions of this with minor differences. I found this out by buying a "spare" that turned out to be different Very Happy

The one that is middle top is the first general issue. They used a very high artificial fiber count and didn't get the printing process correct. So after a few washings the uniforms basically faded out to a shiny green. Not really an effective camouflage! You can see hints of the original colors (still somewhat faded) where the jump wings and name tags were. These uniforms are nearly impossible go get, probably because few were made and the rest were chucked due to fading.

Is this all of the variants? For the Army, possibly. I think there is a very minor variant or two that I don't have pictured but I can't remember. I checked for some notes and didn't find any. Woodland was also used by the Air Force and Marines, though not necessarily the same patterns and not the same cuts.

Woodland is being phased out starting this year and stretching until 2014. The new pattern is a sort of digital type in both temperate and desert. There are some pics here of the new duds. I've got a hat and sand scarf (both Desert) coming to me soon, so I'm a happy camper Wink

    Steve

Spanish Army Woodland is a smaller variant of US M81, just like their 6 Color Desert is a smaller version of US 6 Color.

HI Steve, haven´t seen photos miniciously cause I run out of time, just to alert you about a couple of things about patches and when I have time I will complete info about that kind of uniforms, at least about used by Legion.

2nd photo, 1st camo on the left: IV Bandera arm badge and shoulder straps. Watch out for the year the unifor was made (probably 90´s) IV Bandera, it dissapeared in 1986. In those years Legion still used what you call amoeba uniforms. Even first camo type in 1st photo was given to Boel for testing although they prefered to use the classic terrain amoeba model.

2nd photo, 3rd camo on right breast patch and shoulder straps are Legion ones. They are not in use for GOE XIX "Maderal Oleaga", because they only keep the Legion arm remain of their past when coming from Boel. Even sometimes they are invited to Legion acts, but they are not legionaries yet, so they use infantry badges and cannot use such kind of shoulder straps

Congratulations for collection and nice day to everybody

    Hello Solideo!

As always, thank you for your information! There are so many confusing details about Spanish Legion! OK, so here are two things I need to do:

    1. Remove IV Bandera from the jacket and replace with another Bandera. Which ones are OK for a uniform in the 1990s?

    2. Remove GOE XIX from the jacket and replace with another Bandera. Which ones are OK for a uniform in the 2000s?

    Thanks!

Nice comparison pictures! You can very easily see the color differences between the Army and Navy/Marines patterns.

From what I've seen there are 5 different Navy/Marines uniforms. Gilles has the 1st type from the 1980s (the faded one with white tags), the 3rd type (bright colors), and the 4th type (early 2000s, similar to Army colors). The other two I have are an apparent brief run between 1st and 3rd that has colors similar to the Army uniforms of late 1980s, white tags, no arm flag, and buttons not seen on later uniforms. And there is the 5th type which is in ripstop cloth and has been in service since around 2006.

Nice early set. Hmmm... my memory of the specifics is a little rusty, but I'm pretty sure the para wings are always over the right breast. For sure that is where it should be for nearly all uniforms, so the only doubt I have is if they changed the regs for a small amount of time. I don't think so.

Also... I don't remember the differences between the Airforce and Army badges, however I think that might be Airforce. Hopefully someone can come along and clarify. Again, my brain is rusty on this stuff now.

    Hey Steve,

Definitely a nice clean set, and yes, as far as I know , the wings are worn on the right upper breast..

This one is probably a put together, and not very well done.   I think the wings may be Legion wings.

The patches look like army/ejecito type to me.   Commando/Airborne.   Usually don't mess with stuff that comes patched.

This works well for me: Unless something is known for a fact to be legit, most likely it is not...

Have corrected a few blatant violations in the past on things I knew for a fact to not  be  legit.

Perhaps I'll have a bit of fun with it...

Yeah, I've had stuff sitting in my collection for years before I realized they were incorrectly or post-use badged. Especially with BW service uniforms. Big problem there.

The badges on the arms are definitely Army. COE on the right and I forget what on the left. I do not know if they are correct together or on the correct arms. I forget all the details I once knew!
