1989 Dated 3 Color Desert M65 Field Jacket

I received this in a lot of M65's I purchased. According to my research, the first issue of 3 color Desert was 1990 with large scale issuing starting in 1992.
So I'm guessing this may be an experimental/trials jacket. Seems to be in unissued condition as well. According to one of my other collector friends, the velcro square may mean it was issued to DOD personnel.
I'm interested in what y'all think.

I would think its more likely to be Air Force as lots of ground crew wear (mainly old school) a patch with there name and rank on it, I have some in my collection I have them on leather type material or on cloth .

I was thinking USAF also. But it is a very early example to be sure.

Velcro over the right breast pocket is USAF. Very common for early 3 color desert items.

I agree that 1989 is very early. I'm not sure if I've seen one before or not.

That would make sense. A number of the other M65's in the lot used to have airforce patches on them. Thanks!

I have a 1989 contract dated 3-color field jacket with woodland 22nd Support Command patches on each arm and theater made name tapes.
