Lucky dog, that's a rare one! This is a police uniform from the 1970s IIRC. I do not remember which force used this uniform or exactly when, but for sure it isn't military. Definitely quite rare.

I have the jacket, with badge, but it has significant sun damage Sad No matching trousers and the hate I have doesn't have the badge (though they can be had).

I wonder if it's a Civil Defence (Obrona Cywilna) uniform

Just checked mine and it has the badge for Wojskowa Służba Wewnętrzna (WSW) like this:

Very nice. I'm really digging the "deszczyk" lately.

Steve, are you sure that's a police uniform? I was under the impression that only the Moro was shared between military and paramilitary organizations, and one of the reasons the army developed the Puma in 1989, to distinguish themselves from the various branches of state security personnel.

The Poles have a long history of reuse of surplus military cloth and surplus uniforms by non-military organizations. But only after it's no longer being used. This rain pattern uniform was likely used after the military moved to Moro. I purchased a couple of 1960s rain pattern winter uniforms that had (IIRC) civil defense inventory labels.

For absolute certain this is a uniform not intended for standard military use. I'm unclear if the WSW is technically military or not, but regardless it is an internal security force as far as I can tell.

    Hi guys,

Reiksa, you are 100% correct - it is a Civil Defence uniform. Any badges (apart from OC insignia) are likely added by sellers or re-enactors. Unfortunately both the metal eagle badge and WSW patches are incorrect for this uniform, but the uniform is a very nice example in the wz58 Brown Deszczyk pattern nonetheless.

Here is one in the wz58 Grey Deszczyk:

    Hi Steve,

Your patch is the early WSW version, used in the 1960s possibly earlier (I'm not sure of exact dates).

It was worn on the khaki dress type uniform. WSW = Military Internal Service.

This is the later 1980s patch: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bc/WSW_logo.png

PS I sent you the wz93 BOR ripstop trousers by seamail - you should get them soon... I'm keeping an eye out for the jacket...

    Martin.
