top one is an older, faded US ALICE pack. lower looks to be a Hong Kong made version of the British P44 pack

The last one is a British issue(and British made)58 Pattern pack that has been modified by some Hong Kong forces, like it,different.

I concur. I think the ALICE is just a commercially made example. The pack is definitely a Brit issue 1958 Pattern pack modified with carrying straps. The previous owner is definitely of Hong Kong - the third line of letters follows the format for the HK Identity Card. I am hard pressed to think what '8 Sqn' there would be in HK - possibly a civil emergency organisation of which HK had a couple.

Hong Kong Adventure Corps (HKAC) an army-oriented youth organization, have Squadrons. I would think "8 Sqn" would be part of the HKAC and this bag was used by someone there. They also use DPM jackets (jungle version) usually with just the size indicated S,M, L, etc. or even no size tag at all. Hong Kong made. Sometimes you can find the jackets in thrift shops with green shoulder slip-ons with HKAC on them. I suspect that a lot of the unidentified. unmarked DPM jackets are HKAC. They also use a copy of the OD green British lightweight trousers, also Hong Kong made. I read somewhere (don't remember anymore) that they have to buy (or have made) their own uniforms and gear, so you do see some variation in the DPM jackets. I have some HKAC uniforms which I purchased for cheap in thrift shops. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong_Adventure_Corps
