    Unknown Brushstroke Empty Unknown Brushstroke

Post by drmatz Mon Apr 06, 2015 12:09 pm

got this off ebay... at first i thought it was some of those patterns that are being using by rebels in syria, but once i got it it was clear that it was not.
This is a single print of the rhodesian brushstroke pattern, probably a commercial piece, but if anybody has any input that would be highly appreciated.

hi zvez, that is correct it seems it's only 1 screen of the rhodesian pattern that was printed... but now that i was comparing with other rhodesian uniforms i have it doesnt look like an exact copy, but loosely based on the rhodesian...
Also this would be the green screen on the rhodesian pattern...

    Hey Danilo,

Well, that's an interesting one!  I've never seen anything like it before.  It's clearly based on the green portion of the Rhodesian pattern, but you're right, the shapes aren't exact.  It's more like a poor copy.  The cut of the jacket is unlike any of the genuine or reproduction Rhodesian jackets that I've encountered, so I'm going to guess this is some sort of commercial copy.  The use of those opaque buttons would also support this.

The only thing this pattern is similar to is the Paladin made copy of the Rhodesian pattern.  This South African made uniform was a rough copy of the Rhodesian pattern, and actually added some black elements not present in the genuine pattern.  The very light background is similar to this strange jacket you have.  Clearly though, it's not the same.

    Cheers,

    Mike

    hi mike,

thanks a lot for your expertise... the buttons to me are also the indiction of commercial.. maybe a hunters jacket. at first it looked like some of the uniforms some syrian rebels were using, but after closer inspection i could tell it was not the same uniform. Is an interesting pattern based on the rhodesian that's for sure... in any case i appreciate your thoughts.

    cheers
    danilo
